Narrative

Mara returns to her apartment for the first time in a long while.
The rooms are just as she left them - frozen in time, quiet, familiar… and yet, not quite the same.

There’s a smell in the air.
Faint, bitter. Lingering like a thought you tried to forget.
As she begins to explore, memories surface. So do the consequences of neglect - to her plants, her home… and herself.

In Odeurs Mémoire, the scent of decay becomes a path through Mara’s mind. What begins as a search for the source of the smell slowly unfolds into a symbolic journey of care, reflection, and letting go.

Core Mechanics

• Explore the Apartment
  Wander through Mara’s old flat in an isometric perspective. Use your smell sense to reveal hidden clues, memories, and metaphorical connections.

• Smell as Insight
  Press [E] to activate Mara’s heightened sense of smell. It consumes stamina and has a cooldown - use it wisely to trace the emotional and physical decay in the space around you.

• Interact with Objects
  Use [F] to engage with meaningful items in the apartment. Each one tells part of a story — and offers a choice.

• Memory Battles
  Confront emotional moments through symbolic combat sequences. Dodge invisible threats (until revealed by smell) and carry out small acts of care, like watering or relocating a dying plant.

Sometimes, it’s not enough to try harder. Sometimes, healing means learning where to place your care.
